Random Acts of Kindness Week – February 15-21

The giant red hearts on the downtown lamp posts mean the week is near!

Join Downtown Clawson in this city-wide remembrance of the joy of a simple act of kindness. This year the Downtown Development Authority and downtown businesses are targeting their efforts to supporting our military men and women. We have drop off locations for select items and donation jars will be placed throughout downtown. Please come and join the effort:

We will be taking donations of the following items at these selected spots:

Sprouting Tots; 25 S. Main Street

Beanie Babies and Webkinz

These toys are small enough to easily fit in uniform pockets and they are given away to kids by our soldiers deployed in the Middle East. The toys need not be new but should be in good condition. ( Webkinz may be retired)

Wunderground Magic Shop; 18 S. Main

Board games (Yahtzee, Uno, etc), playing cards, poker chips…

Games to provide entertainment for soldiers

Liberty Tax Service; 17 W. 14 Mile Road

cellphones, ipods, and toner cartridges

These items are recycled by a program called Cell Phones for Soldiers and the funds are used to provide calling cards to allow soldiers to call home.

Fraternal Order of Eagles; 174 Bowers

travel size personal care items and hard candy.

These may also be dropped off at the DDA office in City Hall.

Donation jars will be found throughout the downtown to aid the Michigan National Guard Family Fund, a valuable source of emergency relief for our Michigan Guard members and families.

Blank note cards will be available in business waiting areas, Hunter Community Center and City Hall to send notes of thanks or encouragement to deployed soldiers or service veterans through Operation Gratitude. www.opgratitude.com

Be on the lookout for ‘secret samaritans’ roaming the downtown throughout the week, randomly handing out gift certificates from downtown businesses and thanking patrons for visiting Downtown Clawson.

Please take note – the week gets a jump start on Friday, February 12 with a Red Cross blood drive at Leon & Lulu!

Look for the Random Acts of Kindness poster in downtown businesses!
Donations will also be accepted at the DDA office in City Hall, 425 N. Main Street
