The Clawson Downtown Development Authority is an independent public agency of the City of Clawson dedicated to the economic growth and revitalization of the downtown.
The main goals of the DDA are to strengthen and assist existing businesses, encourage investment and new development in the downtown and preserve and enhance the heritage and sense of place that makes Downtown Clawson unique.
To achieve these goals the DDA offers a Business Assistance Grant Program, joint promotional opportunities, a strong marketing plan and new and annual events which highlight the downtown. Through these efforts we reinforce community pride while introducing downtown Clawson to a larger regional base.
If you are interested in investing in a vibrant and growing community, the DDA is committed to offering every assistance. Please contact us to find out how we can help.

Funding & Budget
The DDA is funded through two basic sources of income as established by the Michigan legislature in Public Act 197 of 1975:
• One is Tax Increment Financing (TIF). All taxes collected within the DDA district are distributed to the county and city at the same amount as they were in 1991, the base year. The tax “growth” since 1991 goes to the DDA for reinvestment within the DDA district
• Second is a 2-mill tax levy on all properties within the DDA district.
Each year the DDA presents a work plan and budget for City Council for approval.
